ABOUT US
Our Story
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Long before Fletcher Winter Co. became a boutique, our family’s winter tradition began with my great-grandfather.
He devoted his life to creating dependable knitwear for cold American winters. His days were spent surrounded by yarn, patterns and half-finished sweaters, carefully turning simple materials into pieces that brought warmth and comfort to the people around him.
His knowledge was passed down through our family, from one generation to the next, until it eventually reached me.
My name is Margaret Fletcher, and some of my earliest memories are of watching my family work with yarn and knitting needles. I was fascinated by how something made by hand could provide not only warmth, but also a feeling of comfort, confidence and belonging.
My great-grandfather taught our family something I have carried with me throughout my life:
Winter clothing should keep a woman warm without making her sacrifice comfort, movement or her personal style.
That belief became the heart of Fletcher Winter Co.
What We Believe
Every woman deserves winter clothing that makes her feel warm, comfortable and beautifully put together.
Not clothing that feels unbearably heavy. Not sweaters that cling in uncomfortable places. Not coats that restrict movement. And not styles that make her feel as though she must choose between looking elegant and staying warm.
We have never believed women should have to make that choice.
That is why the pieces at Fletcher Winter Co. are chosen with real women in mind—soft materials, comfortable fits, flattering shapes, thoughtful coverage and timeless designs that can be worn throughout the winter.
We especially understand how frustrating shopping can become for women in their 40s, 50s and beyond. Too often, winter clothing is designed either to follow every passing trend or to hide the woman wearing it beneath heavy, shapeless layers.
Our goal is different.
We want you to put something on, look in the mirror and immediately feel like yourself—warm, confident, comfortable and effortlessly put together.
For our family, winter clothing has never been only about protecting yourself from the cold.
It is the sweater you reach for on a quiet morning. It is the coat that makes you feel ready to step outside. It is the comfort of wearing something that sits beautifully on your body without needing to be constantly adjusted.
It is that small moment in front of the mirror when everything simply feels right.
Why We Needed a Revival
For decades, I personally cared for nearly every part of our little boutique. I loved welcoming customers, arranging the winter collection and making sure everything was looked after properly.
But over the past few years, fewer customers have visited local boutiques while the cost of keeping our doors open has continued to rise. At the same time, my health has made spending long days in the shop increasingly difficult.
Eventually, I had to face the possibility that the family tradition I had protected for so long might disappear.
I wasn’t ready to let that happen.
With the help of my daughter—and our little dog never far from my side—I decided to bring Fletcher Winter Co. online and give our family boutique a new beginning.
This is why we call it our Revival.
It is more than a sale. It is our opportunity to breathe new life into a family tradition, introduce our winter collection to women across America and carry my great-grandfather’s story forward into another generation.
Every order helps preserve the winter tradition my family has protected for generations and gives our little boutique the opportunity to continue.
To every woman who supports our family, wears one of our pieces or shares our story—thank you.
And to every woman discovering Fletcher Winter Co. for the first time—welcome.
I hope you find something that keeps you warm, feels beautifully comfortable and becomes part of your own winter story.
With warmth and gratitude,
— Margaret Fletcher
